The Arbo Act ensures that the workplace optimally meets the health needs of employees. The law contains a number of ARBO rules that an employer must adhere to. By committed to excellent health and safety conditions as an employer, employees will be less likely to become ill or incapacitated for work. This is important for an employer because the costs of non-working staff can be high. A good occupational health and safety policy often starts with setting up the new occupational health and safety rules. As a basis, it can be assumed that employees can do their work in a safe and healthy manner and have sufficient freedom of movement.

The workplace according to the ARBO rules.

Various ARBO rules are linked to the workplace. If these rules are not adhered to, fines may be imposed. The fines vary depending on the nature of the violation. It is also very important how often a company has been in violation. If a company has regularly violated the law, the fine may be higher. One of the first rules according to the ARBO legislation concerns the workplace. The rules mainly apply to staff who use a workplace for more than two hours a day. There must be sufficient space to move within this workplace. This is a minimum of 4 square meters per staff member. Furthermore, there must be 1 square meter of space for a flat screen and two square meters for other screens.

ARBO Bureau

The workplace according to the ARBO rules must also have certain requirements for the desk. It is important that a desk is height adjustable. This way the correct dimensions for the body can be set. The height should vary between 62 to 82 cm above the floor. It depends on the height of the staff member how high the desk should be placed. The work surface of the desk must be at least 129.9 cm wide and 80 cm deep. The top of the desk should absolutely not reflect in an annoying way. A height of 73.5cm is average. If a desk has a fixed height, this height must be 75cm and this may deviate by 2cm.

The office chair

It is not only the agency that must comply with certain occupational health and safety rules. The chair is also an important part of the occupational health and safety rules. It is important that the chair rests on the ground with at least five points. The seat, backrest and armrests must be adjustable. It is important that the chair is completely adjusted to your own body. The seat height can be adjusted between 390 and 510 mm. The armrests may be varied between 200 and 270 mm. The seat itself should be between 460 and 500 mm. If the chair meets these requirements, this is in accordance with the stated ARBO rules.

Fine for a rejected workplace in accordance with the ARBO rules

If a labor inspection shows that a workplace does not comply with the ARBO rules, a fine will be imposed. The inspector who comes by will then draw up a fine report. After a while, the labor inspectorate returns to check whether the workplace has been adapted in accordance with the ARBO rules. If the ARBO rules are violated again, the current fine will be increased by 50%. After the error has been committed, the labor inspectorate will carry out another inspection. If this happens again, a report will be drawn up by the labor inspectorate. In addition to an official report, a higher fine may be imposed again. It is therefore important to adhere to the ARBO rules in the workplace. So that higher fines are prevented in the future. It may still be possible to object to a fine with the facts of the ARBO rules. If the objection is rejected, an employer can still appeal. The appeal is being contested through the court. However, it is important to arrange a workplace in advance in accordance with the ARBO rules. This will save a lot of problems later in the future and ensure satisfied employees.
