The correct monitor position is crucial for creating an ergonomic and comfortable workplace. An incorrectly positioned screen can lead to neck and eye strain, fatigue, and even long-term health problems. Here are some guidelines and considerations for optimizing display position:

Height of the Display

The top of the screen should be at or slightly below eye level when you are sitting upright. This helps keep the neck in a neutral position and reduces pressure on your cervical vertebrae.

Distance from the screen

The display should be placed at a comfortable reading distance, usually about arm's length (about 50 to 70 cm from your eyes), so that you can easily read the text on the screen without leaning forward or straining your eyes.

Viewing angle

The center of the display should be tilted slightly downward, about 10 to 20 degrees. This ensures that you look down with a natural eye movement, which is more comfortable for your eyes and helps reduce exposure to the screen's direct light.

Preventing Reflections

Position the screen so that direct light from windows or artificial light sources does not reflect on it. If necessary, use an anti-glare screen filter to minimize reflections and glare, which can reduce eye strain.

Multiple Screens

If you work with multiple screens, position them so that they provide an easy viewing transition. The primary screen, where you spend the most time, should be directly in front of you, while secondary screens should be turned slightly inward.

Regular Breaks

In addition to the physical positioning of your screen, it's important to take regular breaks to rest your eyes. The 20-20-20 rule is often recommended: every 20 minutes, look away from your screen for 20 seconds at something that is at least 20 feet (about 6 meters) away.

ABC Office Furniture can advise on the right furniture and accessories, such as adjustable monitor arms and screen stands, that make it easier to achieve the ideal screen position. By following these guidelines, you can create a workplace that provides visual comfort and minimizes the risk of fatigue and discomfort.
